So a wee bit about me. I’m 45, married with one amazing little daughter. Live in Oldcastle in the north-west corner of Co. Meath (that’s in Ireland just in case you didn’t know).  I have an overactive imagination and lots of mental drive but don’t always have the time to do everything I want to do !!

I love to cook, read, write, garden, eat, chat and ponder.  Frequently I try to do more than two of these at once!  I have a passion for history and have an unfinished PhD in Irish women’s history.  One day I will rescue it from the cupboard in my daughter’s bedroom and knuckle down to it again.  I have a degree in History and Irish Studies from Liverpool University and a Masters in Historical Research also from Liverpool.  Amongst other things I have worked for Amnesty International and Liverpool University, doing event management and fundraising in both places.

I completed a course in Community Development with NUI Maynooth over a year ago which was  a complete eye-opener for me. I always secretly prided myself that I was aware of community issues and knew a fair bit about community work – well I was wrong! This course has been hugely stimulating and is making me look at the world in a different way.

  1. We seem to have a lot in common! I also have a degree and Master’s in history. I never got as far as a PhD though; I live with someone who is doing one and it has been so challenging for him. Your attitude to it is great though 🙂 Glad to meet you!
